RHI's Education department is the center of education for the hospital, Carolina Community Care,
One Source Rehab, and its physician practices.  Most of our programs are open to other professionals in the community.  We also offer programs that are designed with the general public in mind.  By partnering with
MAHEC in Asheville, we are also able to provide the local physicians with the continuing education needed to stay current in their fields of practice.  We are an American Heart Association Training Center, offering BLS, ACLS, PALS, HeartSaver, and AED training.

Health Ministry & Wellness provide Health Fairs for many of the businesses, industries, and churches in the county.  Please contact either group if we can help arrange one for your organization.

The Cancer Resource Center is located in the One Source Building in Forest City and houses a beautiful area for patients and families to get information, try on wigs, meet with the Cancer Patient Navigator or the Outreach Coordinator or to attend support groups.  Smoking cessation classes are also available to the
community.

Diabetes Education is offered for patients while they are admitted to our facility to ensure that they have the best information available through our American Diabetes Association accredited program.  There are also both morning & evening Diabetes classes available for those in the community.

Health Ministrytrains and works with Parish Nurses in over 30 congregations throughout our county.  Their primary focus is to encourage parishioners to take care of their own health and well being, as well as assisting those around them. The Health Ministry Nurse assists congregations who don't have a Parish Nurse to provide routine health screenings, flu shots, and deliver health and wellness information to their congregants.  Education and training in HeartSaver, AED, and implementing Support Teams who provide assistance to church members during times of illness and or crisis.

LifeLine is a program that enables people to remain in the comfort of their own homes and have a means of contacting emergency or support services.  By enrolling in LifeLine a Personal Help Button is worn at all times that uses a monitor & phone lines to call for help.  The call is answered by a "live person" who sends either emergency crews or contacts a family member, friend or neighbor to help the subscriber.

The Wellness program consists of the Rutherford Hospital Employee Wellness program and another component that deals with Community Health Advocacy.  As a medical institute, it is our goal to help our employees and our community to achieve healthy behaviors.  Components include community health fairs, Speaker's Bureau, Car seat inspections, CPR / First Aid / AED training, and Safe Sitter classes.
