It has been over 100 years since Dr. and Mrs. Henry Norris and Dr. Montgomery Biggs co-founded Rutherford Hospital. Family Practice - Rutherford Regional Health System has a need for another Family Practitioner. The physician will be hospital employed with a competitive salary based on Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).
Currently there are four offices; all but one office has one or more physicians and one mid-level provider. Duties include outpatient family medicine for a patient population from pediatrics to geriatrics, but mostly adult/geriatric. Doctors and mid-level providers share in the call rotation, covering all four practices via telephone. Offices have electronic medical records.
Recent graduates and experienced candidates willing to see 25 patients per day should apply. The hospital will provide CME allowance, productivity bonus based on work Relative Value Units (wRVU), malpractice coverage and disability and health insurance.
Walk-in Clinic (The Clinic at Walmart)

-Nurse Practioner
-Physician Assistant
Rutherford Regional Health System has an opening for a Nurse Practitioner to work in our walk-in clinic. This clinic is located within Walmart. It is open 12 hours/day, Monday - Friday, 10 hours on Saturday and 6 hours on Sunday. We have 2 MLPs. One works Monday - Wednesday (36 hours) and the other works Thursday - Saturday (34 hours). The next week the two providers switch. In this setting, the patient poulation ranges in age from 2 to geriatrics with a fixed menu of services offered. There are two exam rooms and the patient flow seems to be pretty steady. An office assistant works with the provider to register patients.
Gastorenterology – A multispecialty group of nine physicians seek a second GI. Rutherford Internal Medicine Associates (RIMA), a part of Carolinas Physician Network (CPN), employs five internists, one GI, one Hematologist/Oncologist, one Neurologist and one Pulmonlogist/CCare specialist along with three mid-level providers. The current GI remains booked for seven weeks.
Carolinas Physician Network will employ the new GI and offer a competitive salary, malpractice insurance, retirement plan and bonus compensation based on productivity.
General Surgeon – Rutherford Regional Health System is seeking a fourth general surgeon. The physician will be hospital employed with a competitive salary based on Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) with CME allowance.
Duties will include “bread and butter” general surgery cases and could also include endoscopies, stereotactic breast biopsies and vascular services. Call will be 1:4.
The hospital will offer a productivity bonus based on work Relative Value Units (wRVU), malpractice coverage and disability and health insurance. We have five OR suites and work on a block schedule. The office does have electronic medical records.
Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for General Surgery practice - Rutherford Regional Health System has a new position available for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Medical Staff. This will be a position working with our General Surgery practice. Job duties will include working in the clinic and in the hospital setting to provide patient care. This individual will round on patients, assist Surgeons in the OR and provide pre-op and follow up care as directed by the physicians. We currently have 4 General Surgeons.
Rutherford Regional Medical Center is located 60 miles west of Charlotte and 50 miles southeast of Asheville. The Medical Center has 5 spacious Ors. On average, we have a total of 250 surgical cases/month including ENT, Urology, Orthopedics, Ob/Gyn and General Surgery.
Internist – A multispecialty group of nine physicians seek another Internist. Duties include inpatient and outpatient work.
Rutherford Internal Medicine Associates (RIMA), is a part of Carolinas Physician Network (CPN), employs five Internists, one GI, one Hematologist/Oncologist, one Neurologist and one Pulmonologist/CCare specialist along with three mid-level providers.
CPN will employ the new Internist and offer a competitive salary, malpractice insurance, retirement plan and bonus compensation based on productivity. Hospitalists admit all adult patients. The Internist will pick up their patients the next morning in the hospital.
Neurologist – A multispecialty group of nine physicians seek another Neurologist.
Rutherford Internal Medicine Associates (RIMA), a part of Carolinas Physician Network (CPN), employs five Internists, one GI, one Hematologist/Oncologist, one Neurologist and one Pulmonologist/CCare specialist along with three mid-level providers. The current Neurologist is also certified in Sleep Medicine.
Duties include general neurology medicine, stroke patients, pain medicine and dementia.
CPN will employ the new Neurologist and offer a competitive salary, malpractice insurance, retirement plan and bonus compensation based on productivity.
Pediatrics – Rutherford Regional Health System opened Rutherford Children’s Care in 2011 and is seeking a second pediatrician to join the practice. The physician will be offered a competitive salary based on Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) with CME allowance.
The physician will see patients primarily in the office and attend C-sections (most of which are scheduled deliveries.) A nurse call/triage system is also being implemented.
The hospital will also offer a productivity bonus based on work Relative Value Units (wRVU), malpractice coverage and disability and health insurance.
Psychiatry – Rutherford Regional Health System would like to add another Psychiatrist to our team. This position will be offered a competitive salary based on Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) with CME allowance.
Duties include rounding on the inpatients (we average 12 patients in the 14-bed unit), joining in treatment team meetings, providing consults and following patients in outpatient practice. New doctor will have 1:4 call.
The hospital will also offer a productivity bonus based on work Relative Value Units (wRVU), malpractice coverage and disability and health insurance. We are also recruiting for additional psychiatric Nurse Practitioners.
